In 2024, the Appraisal Board ("Bewertungsboard") was established in Austria. This interdisciplinary body is responsible for issuing recommendations, based on scientific evidence, on the use of selected high-cost and specialised medicines in the inpatient sector or at the interface between outpatient and inpatient care.
The AIHTA supports the work of the Appraisal Board’s Secretariat within theFederal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (BMASGPK), including the prioritisation of medicinal products for review by the Assessment Board and the development of a database of clinical experts from a range of medical specialties. A central component of this work is the preparation of comprehensive HTA reports.
