In context of the implementation of the European Health Technology Assessment regulation in 2025, currently the last steps towards standard processes and methodologies are being set up. In September 2021, the European Commission signed a Service Contract for the Provision of Joint Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Work supporting the continuation of EU cooperation on HTA. The contract will run for 24 months, and until September 2023. EUnetHTA 21 work will build on the achievements and lessons learned from the EUnetHTA Joint Actions and focus on supporting a future EU HTA system under the HTA Regulation.

The EUnetHTA 21 joint consortium is led by ZIN (The Netherlands) and includes the following HTA agencies: AEMPS (Spain), AIFA (Italy), AIHTA (Austria), GBA (Germany), HAS (France), INFARMED (Portugal), IQWIG (Germany), KCE (Belgium), NCPE (Ireland), NIPN (Hungary), NOMA (Norway) and TLV (Sweden). AIHTA is – as in former Joint Actions – responsible for the coordination of activities on the assessment of high-risk medical devices.

The Project Plans for the deliverables in the EUnetHTA 21 Service Contract (2021-2023) were published recently. They provide a general overview and describe the objectives, approach and timelines for all deliverables. All Project Plans have been validated by the Committee for Scientific Consistency and Quality (CSCQ) and endorsed by the EUnetHTA 21 Consortium Executive Board (CEB).
