Background:
Due to their social situation, homeless and uninsured persons belong to the vulnerable groups of a society. Children, adolescents and adults affected are usually exposed to extensive physical and/or mental health threats and social burdens and often have no or difficult access to regular health care. Social organisations, such as the "neunerhaus" in Vienna, provide basic health and social services (such as general medicine, dentistry or social work).
Project aim:
The aim of this project is to provide an overview of the evaluation methodologies of easily accessible outpatient health centres (including low-threshold social work) for homeless and uninsured persons.
Research questions:
- Which evaluation methods or approaches are described in evaluation reports?
- Which primary evaluation outcomes or outcome parameters are used?
- Which standardised measuring instruments are used?
- Which groups of people are the primary target populations and which health threats and/or social burdens are described?
- Which care settings are described (outpatient, i.e. in local centres/mobile settings in public spaces, other settings)?
Methods:
- Literature search (in selected databases) and Internet-/handsearch for evaluation reports, reviews etc.;
- Contacts with evaluation experts and experts dealing with health service provision (public health topics) for homeless and uninsured persons in German-speaking countries.
