In Austria, health economic evaluations have so far played only a minor role, partly due to the absence of a corresponding national guideline. Guidelines provide methodological standards for the conduct and appraisal of health economic evaluations. Their overarching objectives are to ensure quality, promote methodological standardisation, and increase transparency, while at the same time taking account of context-specific factors. To achieve these aims and establish an Austrian guideline, a systematic development and implementation process involving stakeholders relevant to the healthcare system is indispensable.
Still under revision.
