Since January 2025, the European HTA Regulation (HTAR) has been implemented. The HTAR Capacity Building Programme is an EU initiative aimed at strengthening the expertise of HTA bodies in EU, EEA and EFTA countries within the framework of the Regulation. Its purpose is to prepare staff for joint assessment processes, such as Joint Clinical Assessments (JCAs) and Joint Scientific Consultations (JSCs), and to support the development of sustainable capacity within national HTA institutions.

The AIHTA is a member of the programme's Advisory Board. Through regular meetings, Board members provide strategic advice, review project deliverables and milestones, and contribute to the training programme as tutors.
